Naruto Main Characters
Naruto Uzumaki: Whenver the nine-tailed fox attacked Konohagakure, the fourth Hokage, Minato Uzumaki, sealed it into his only son, Naruto. Although people were forbidden to talk about the nine-tailed fox afterwards, people still treated Naruto like an outcast, making him believe that he was a loser. Becuase no one was there to guide him, Naruto became michevious, often vandalizing things like the
Sakura Haruno: The pink-haired kunoichi of Squad 7, Sakura used to be pretty much helpless and allowed her squadmates to protect her from danger. Once the mission into the land of Waves was over, however, she realized how important it was to defend herself, and concentrated more on her training and less on her crush on Sasuke. She views Ino Yamanaka as her rival, becoming best friends with her until she found out that she, too, had a crush on Sasuke. However, after the chunin exams, the two decided to be friends once more. When Saskue left the village at the end of part one, she became Tsuande's pupil and studied medical ninjutsu.
Sasuke Uchiha: The only remaining survivor of the Uchiha massacre, Sasuke is a moody, lonely guy who just can't get over the fact that his brother, Itachi, killed his entire family. He is teamed up in Squad 7 with Naruto, whom he regards as an idiot, and Sakura, who he regards as an annoyance. However, as he continues to go on adventures with his team, he learns that he can depend on his comrades for anything. At the end of part one, he goes and seeks Orochimaru to gain more power, but in part two he betrays him, absorbing all his energy and forming his own team, Hawk, to try and kill Itachi. After he succeeds, he teams up with the Akatsuki, and is currently engaged in battle with the jinchuriki of the 8-tailed beast.
Kakashi Hotake: The leader of squad number 7, Kakashi Hotake is the cool jounin that Might Guy just can't stand. His students look up to him as an authority, but they can't help but wonder what he's hiding under his mask that covers his nose and mouth. His headband covers his right eye, concealing his Sharingan that was given to him by his former squad mate, Obito Uchiha. Kakashi is usually found reading his book, Come-Come Paradise, or, currently, Come-Come Tatics.
Rock Lee: Rock Lee is the complete disciple of his sensei, Might Guy. He dresses like him, talks like him, and uses the same taijutsu as him. Well, actually, that's because Lee doesn't have any chakra that flows through him, not permitting him to perform any kind of ninjutsu or genjutsu. His main rival is Neji Hyuuga, but he does envy Sasuke Uchiha a bit.
Might Guy: The self-proclaimed rival of Kakashi Hotake and the nutty leader of Team Guy, Might Guy has more often than not acted like a complete dunder-head. Besides being obsessed about his rivalry with Kakashi Hotake, he is completely engulfed in his own universe about how youthful things are, how un-youthful Kakashi is. Tenten once wondered what would happen when Guy finally got a gray hair.
Neji Hyuuga: The prodigy of one of the Hyuuga branches, Neji is the other shinobi of Team Guy. He believes that if you are born a failure and a loser, then you will stay one for the rest of your life. This why Naruto grew angry with him in the chunin exams when he fought his cousin, Hinata. Later on, Naruto defeated him in the chunin exams, but Neji was still able to reach jounin statis before Naruto could even leave his genin days behind him. He sees Lee as a dropout loser, but no matter how hard Lee tries, he can never defeat the genuis Neji.
Tenten: The kunoichi of Team Guy and the only girl on the team, Tenten is a weapons master, specializing in shurikens and kunai. She often uses scrolls to summon chains and paper bombs to help defeat her opponents. When Neji begins having trouble mastering the 8 Trigrams Palm Rotation technique, she becomes his battle partner and helps him train for the chunin exams, despite not passing the prelims herself. Tenten's goal is to prove that being a guy or a girl means nothing on the battlefield.
Kiba Inuzuka: Kiba's last name literally means
Hinata Hyuuga: Belonging to the main branch, Hinata struggles to master certain jutsu. At first, she was always screwing up on missions and lost her confidence, but when she fights her cousin, Neji, in the chunin exams, she regains it and grows more than she ever had in the past. Like Neji, Hinata can use the Byakuugan, as well as her own jutsu, the 8 Trigrams Palm. She also has an overwhelming crush on Naruto, due to the fact that Naruto is everything that she is not.
Shino Aburame: The ever-so-serious shinobi of Squad 8, Shino is a master of the Parasetic Insects Jutsu. He can control bugs and different insects, as well as use them to perform attacks for him. When Naruto and a few other genin go after Sasuke at the end of part one, Shino was absent on a different mission. This led to him being completely envious of Kiba for being able to go with Naruto.
Kurenai Yuhi: the kunoichi leader of Team 8, Kurenai is pretty much Hinata's guardian. After her father failed in teaching her the Byakuugan, she was placed in Kurenai's care. This led to Kurenai being very protective of Hinata, although she allows her to grow on her own after witnessing her fight in the chunin exams. Kurenai is a master of genjutsu, especially plants. In part two she finds out that she is pregant with Asuma's child.
Shikamaru Nara: The lazy shinobi of squad 10, Shikamaru suffers the fact that his mom is a control freak and that his dad doesn't understand him at all. He befriended his squadmate, Choji, at a young age and has been his best friend ever since. Shikamaru has a very high IQ (of about 300) and often plays his mentor, Asuma, in shogi (Japanese chess). Kurenai once said that she graded a test from Shikamaru one time, and his score was lower than even Naruto's, but Asuma responded by saying that he was just too lazy to pick up his pencil and put it in the right place. Shikamaru became a chunin at the end of part one, depsite losing his chunin exam match against Temari.
Choji Akimichi: When he was little, Choji was made fun of because of his weight. However, once his pal, Shikamaru, befriended him, he became more independant and in turn focused more on his training. When he lost his match in the chunin exam prelims, he decided to train even harder, only to be sidetracked by going on a mission to retrieve Sasuke at the end of part one. Ino, one of his squad mates, is constantly telling him that he needs to lose some weight, but Choji counters by calling himself
Ino Yamanaka: The kunoichi of squad 10, Ino is both a fierce fighter and a rival to Sakura. Ino was always more independent and had more belief in herself than Sakura, which is why she befriended her during their academy days. However, once she realized that Sakura had a crush on Sasuke as well, she became Sakura's rival. Ino is extremely close to her teammates, due to the fact that all of their dads were on a squad together when they were genin. Ino specializes in the Mind Transfer Jutsu technique, allowing her to gain control over her opponents.
Asuma Sarutobi: The leader of squad 10, Asuma is always seen with a cigarette. It is said that he smokes 2 packs a day, but can quit at any time if he is worried or concerned about something. He worries a lot about his students, calling them
Gaara: Born in Sunagakure, Gaara is a ninja with the Shukaku, or one-tailed fox, sealed inside of him. He is able to control sand in vast amounts, and carries a gourd on his back that is filled with it just to make sure he always has some ready. In the chunin exams he took on Rock Lee, only to have Guy step in before he could kill him. Ever since he was confused about how he lost. In part two he becomes Kazekage of Suna, only to be captured by the Akatsuki and killed to extract the Shukaku from him. However, he was resurrected, due to Granny Chiyo's life transfer.
Temari: Gaara's older sister, Temari specializes in wind jutsu, which is why she carries a huge fan on her back. Temari took on Shikamaru in the chunin exams, and almost lost, but before she has Shikamaru forfeited. Since then, Temari has saved Shikamaru on various occasions, and seems to enjoy his company a bit much.
Kankuro: Gaara's older brother, Kankuro cares about Gaara a lot. when he was captured in part two, Kankuro's plans to rescue him were shot down due to the fact that it would require calling up the entire Sunagakure military force. Kankuro fights with puppets, one in particular being Crow. Kankuro once told Naruto that he was tons of fun and that he liked that about him, but Naruto countered saying
